Update

Am not dead. Not yet anyway. The 'crisis' has kinda blown-over. Things just happen when they happen. You cant force fate. Am just gonna do what I do best: TAKE IT EASY. Btw, that last blog is turning out to be very costly;only bout 17 ppl are not talking to me right now. Am sorry if I hurt anyones sensibility. The last few days have been full of questions for me. Some of them are very profound and fundamental. Like, "Who gets Tina Ambani now?"or something like "Is Mulayam secular?". Or more local issues like, "Do Indian freshers have brains?". What led to that question?? Well thats another story for another day.

Ive been meeting a lot of 'mentors' in the last few days. Just when I was thinking that the division am gonna work for in 'The Comany' is a super-secret inteligence unit,i bumped into Cogito. Thankfully he used to work in 'The Division' (my insinuations to a particular Langley,Virginia headquarted organisation are merely an attempt to infuse a certain 'excitement' into a rather dull profession). Thanx Cogito. You put a lotta things in perspective. Also met a more avuncular person from a chennai-based IT company.Again reinforced a personal belief: I dont like ppl who are above 40. They also return the compliment with a certain force.

Am slowly organising stuff that i need to take. Resumes. Lots of them. We are supposed to bargain our way into projects there. I foresee a rather fierce food-fight, so preparing myself for that. No word still about the EXACT date of joining.Arghhhh......the pleasures of joining a start-up.......

And oh yeah....ive booked tickets for the 13th of July to Hyderabad. People from another 'Division' are leaving on that day(they have received their date of joining). Am not sure why i did it.They may put me in NOIDA.Anyway Sathish only paid and he only has to cancel if i dont come.

And yeah one more thing, I need to change the name of the blog. I was thinking "Musings of a bored techie",or something like "Musings of a wanna-be pornstar".......hmmmmmm......have to think.....

Thoughts.......

Going thru a rather rough phase in life.I'd get 'dogged' if i blog bout it. Suffice to say that I have been forced to think a lot these last few days.Am gonna try and organise my thoughts below. Its upto ppl around me to take wat they want and leave the crap.

** Indian IT industry has this amazingly twisted paradox. The jobs that apparently provide "security","growth","domain related training","prestige" are the most boring ones in terms of difference made/second.On the other hand, those jobs that provide more "satisfaction" or lets u make a difference to things are the ABSOLUTE DEAD-ENDERS in terms of career progression. So its a question of choosing between 'the-monolith-that-pays-u-shit' or 'the-start-up-which-may-screw-your-career'. I know thats an awful trivialisation of the issue. I understand that most freshers dont even get to make the choice. But researching my own options after 2 years have made me draw these conclusions.

**Kids from Bangalore and Delhi walk away with the plum jobs. Am not even talking bout the IIT's and the REC's. Normal 'SVCE/SSN/Sathyabama/SRM' level colleges in Delhi and Bangalore corner more high-paying entry level jobs compared to us. I know one instance of a chap from Bangalore selected by 'The Company', who got into a business consultancy as a "Business Inteligence analyst"(off-campus route). Now by default, I am equally qualified to take up that job, but ive never heard of that particular UK-based start-up.And this guy is NOT from an IIT or a REC. Here's a lil message to those of my friends who have to join work in October/November: MOVE YOUR ASS.(yours truly doesnt have the luxury of time;late realisation is my speciality). Macromedia India, apparently, took one guy from SVCE. Its just a question of time and effort.We(chennai-based engineering students) have been programmed into beleiving that the software-megaliths are the only way to go. Not that they are bad, just that I know one or two ppl who can do better.

** I have a strong feeling that I may move to Bangalore after 2-3 years.

OK enough of bull-shit. I just HAD to say that out loud. Its a karma thing-get it out and it'll be ok thing.

Home Alone

Avinash left today. With that the last member of the "Lala gang" (i'll give u the etymology later) has gone. The other members have already started working. Even those who have a lotta time on their hands have started working part-time in call-centres till their companies call them. The idea is to save as much as possible(and then blow it on booze).Basically, am alone.Ive never felt this lonely in a looooooong time. Should get 'The company's e-mail any minute. Then I have to plan the next 2 years of my life. Its the intermediate buffer-zone thats killing me.I have to learn to cook, wash, make coffee........stuff that adults used to do for me.........SHIT......ADULT-HOOD SUCKS MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(btw, is this wat they call the 'peter pan syndrome'???? well ive got it alright).I take my hats off to all those software engineers and those NRI's who live away from their parents. On a related note, how do u guys manage to pull it off??? I find the idea of cooking my own food and washing my own clothes repulsive.

The action on the college group seems to be cease-less.Read this to get some context.

Mr. S 'apparently' sent the following mail:

9u049u89gh89fsdpokofkdpbm3ß4i

Bullshit right??? What would all of us do when we see a ZIP file along with the above mail??? We'll go to the next junk on the in-box right??? No some of us dont.

Mr.'Sleepy Mallu' wrote this:

S dont mess around with things. Ur posting on 6th june shows u
have bcome maniacal man. dont send viruses for petes sake man.

Chill out man or face annhilation

Very Pugnacious mail considering the number of hours 'Sleepy Mallu' was awake in class.

Mr. S wrote back saying,

guys ,
i did'nt send that mail containing virus as
an attachment.

but some virus is automatically generating virus
attachments and sending it to groups. even i came to
know about this after i got that same mail sent to
sistece groups from my id without my knowledge.

there is no need for me to do such silly things
and we wiproites r no maniacs.

Now u know where relegious riots start!!!!!!!Where the fuck did WIPRO come into this?????

To this mail 'Smart ass' wrote:

Dear S Dude,
What kind of a silly wiproite would let a virus take over his comp. Aren't you guys supposed to make copmuter to do stuff for you.
Take care man,
C

No this insult is not enough!!!!!1 How can this be enough???? 'S' was with us for 4 years. So what???? Am gonna insult him in public!!!! So 'Mr. Snake' wrote:

daii
y u chumma pulling other wiprovites into ur
argument....lotsa other sane guys who got
selected....u make a mistake and then try pulling them
into ur argument......very bad s!@#$#$....oh
TRUE SON OF MR.P.KANNAN.....this is not expected of
u....

Looking at the last two mails made 'ass' tense. He could let 'smart ass' go by, but not 'Snake'. 'Snake' apparently "stole his girl". Completely different matter that 'ass' has never spoken to "his girl".So he wrote:

There is another facility in yahoo. I forgot its
name. What is it called????Damn, I forgot!!!!! Yeah,
got it--its called SENDING PERSONAL E-MAILS!!!!!!! Why
dont u all try THAT and leave the group alone!!!!!!!!

A couple of mails followed by 'Arivu thirunavukarasu' who espoused the cause of "Trojon horses". All this BS can be stopped if the mods are a lil more stringent. Are they listening??????

Bangalore Trip:A photo Log

This was part of my luggage to Bangalore.I am proabably the only idiot on earth who would carry corn-flakes and Tropicana apple juice from Chennai to Bangalore. Btw, this was given to me by Aravind's mom, to be delivered to Baby Aravind.

From left-Aravind,Avinash and Abishek-my companions.

That is Sathyabama 2k5's first ID card :) :)

But it aint doing too well with Aravind :) :)

His Business Card. He gave me 20,avinash got 30 and Abishek got 25. We are supposed to give it to everyone we know. Btw, Aravind wants me to publish his mobile number on my blog, so that,"...some hot babe from Bangalore may call me.". Firstly, i dont use my blog for those purposes and secondly if anybody gets a call its ME!!!!!!!!

Me(left) and Avinash.

Quite often we ask ourselves hard-to-answer questions, like,"Who is a sonofabitch?"

And we wax philosophic with metaphysical postulations, incomplete aphorisms and inconsistent sophism that make one sure that a picture is worth a 1000 words.

The guy on the left is Abishek, trying to protect his modesty. The guy on the right, well, he's a sonofabitch.

Train ride to Bangalore: 400 rupees
Ray ban glasses:1000 rupees
Van heusen shirt:2000 rupees
Finding a half naked photo of yourself while browsing a friend's blog: PRICELESS

Finding out that your half naked photo is the wall-paper of your friend's laptop:PRICELESS.

The guy on the right is Sathya. He is my first 'blog friend'- a friend I met exclusively through this blog. Hmmmmm, we must've looked like a bunch of looney toons to Sathya :)

You can find more of these pics here.
